Our New Home

A couple of years ago, we decided to down-size. We sold our Marina Tower apartment in September 2013 & purchased a ‘new to us’ property at Twin Towers - maybe only 100m away in a straight line in January 2014.

Twin Towers is located at just about the western most end of Tanjung Bunga – where the dual carriage way ends & the road starts to twist round the north coast of the island. It’s actually 2 blocks of apartments, each of 22 storeys. There is a lovely pool area, nicely maintained gardens, an air conditioned gym & rooms to book for private functions. The complex is very well maintained, with a Building Manager to co-ordinate all goings on, & an active residents committee.

We have 2 car parking places, one on the lobby level and the other 2 floors down, with our mail box located near to our lifts. Once up at our single floor apartment, we have wonderful views, looking eastwards along the North Channel of the Straits of Melaka towards the mainland and round to the surrounding hills.

On arrival at our apartment, we enter via the entrance porch, where we keep our shoes in a built in cupboard, plus DIY/cleaning items. The living hall can be divided into 2 parts, the sitting/TV area and the dining area. The kitchen is round to the right as we walk through the apartment. It is all open plan.

Each bedroom has a balcony, from a small rectangle at our guest bedroom where we dry our laundry, through to a large curved one at our office, facing north-west for sunset bevies. These 2 rooms share a bathroom. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Both bathrooms are wet rooms.

All rooms (except the kitchen & bathrooms) have air conditioning units, & ceiling fans which sometimes are just enough. There is a strong wind which blows through the apartment and sometimes we have to close the windows or peg loose items down!

We have a mix of window dressings: from full length curtains lined with heat retaining blackouts in our living hall & master bedroom, through to Roman blinds at small windows & roller blinds in the kitchen.  The floors are all tiled, making cleaning easier: no wooden floors, so no worry about scratches & fading.
